The South London Business awards are run each year by Prospects Services (SLB) to ensure that all of the business that are part of the awards are recognized for the hard work and dedication that they have shown throughout the year to their field and industry. In the 2013 awards, there are 11 categories that businesses could enter including Best Small Business, Best Medium Sized Business, Commitment to the Community, and Entrepreneur of the Year. Each category had hundreds of applicants and the judging panels whittled it down to just 89 finalists.
The judging process began with each company filling out a thorough questionnaire with a large amount of supporting material to enhance the points made in the questionnaire. A judging panel then scored these questionnaires and supporting material against certain criteria and gave them an overall score. The business that scored high enough were shortlisted as finalists in their respective categories. To be announced as a finalist is a great achievement and shows that each company is being recognized for what they are doing. However, Mobile Bar Hire did not have to partake in the questionnaire section of the judging process and were shortlisted straight into the final for the category Best Hospitality, Leisure and Travel and Tourism Business. This is due to the fact that the company won the same category in the Bexley Business Awards.
The final stage of the judging process will only include the businesses that were shortlisted as finalists and will determine the winner of each category. This section of the competition includes the companies travelling to the Novotel Hotel in Waterloo to partake in a face to face interview with a judging panel. Within this interview the panel will ask questions and the companies will answer along with a small presentation of the aspects of their business that show they are potential winners.
The winners of each category will be announced at a Gala dinner being held at Riverbank Park Plaza, on 4th July 2013. Mobile Bar Hire will be in attendance hoping to win their second business award for 2013 in just half a year. For any winner and any finalist it is a great privilege and will do great amounts for business as the businesses will gain publicity and will be shown to be some of the best in their respective industries.
