Waiting for a pint at the bar can be a nightmare. Queues can feel like hours, as you long for that refreshing taste of your next drink. But the York Beer and Cider Festival have come up with a solution.

From September 18th-21st, the Yorkshire town will be holding the annual event, offering 550 beers and ciders for the keen drinker to taste. The range of drinks on offer, along with the size of the festival is the biggest in Yorkshire. It’s also the biggest outdoor festival in North England!

But it’s the bar that’s the real talking point. Over 250 feet in length, it aims to celebrate Yorkshire Brewing, selling 300 local beers. The festival is supporting small enterprises, with the majority coming from micro-breweries around the county.

But queue haters be wary, because 12000 beer lovers are expected, with ticket sales reaching Canada and New Zealand. Despite this, 200 volunteers will be running the event from all areas of the UK, so you’re sure to get a range of pints poured for you over the course of the festival. The sun is also expected to make an appearance, so the day will be one to remember.

The profits from the festival go back into CAMRA, the Campaign for Real Ale, from which most of the volunteers are members. Alongside the beverages, there will be live music, face painting and magicians so the day will be a busy one!

It’s not just local beers making the billing – foreign beers, world wines, and ciders from 20 countries will be at the festival. There really is something for everyone.
